Frugal living
I have looked at these sites, but haven’t actually cooked any recipes from them because, well, I hate to cook. But I will eventually. This is a preliminary list of sites, more sites and more categories will be added later.
Frugal cooking
Erin Chase, a mom of three, shops frugally and never spends more than $5 per meal.
A variety of mostly casserole-type recipes. I’ve actually made tater tot casserole – it’s a staple in our family. Or would be, except Cayla hates it. My recipe has fewer ingredients (large can of cream of mushroom soup, 32 oz. tater tots, 1 pound of hamburger. I brown and drain the ground beef, then add the soup to the pan and heat. I pour the hot mixture into the 9-by-13-inch pan and top with tater tots. I bake at the temperature and time on the package. Cooking the soup and ground beef together means less oven time. My sister adds frozen corn to her casserole. I haven’t tried cheese, but it sounds good.)
Kimberly Alexandra’s profile: singer. writer. champagne taste, 2 buck chuck budget. good cook. kooky. chocoholic. patron saint of cats. talker. listener. thinker. sometimes to a fault.
She writes comprehensive descriptions of how she comes up with recipes. Don’t read when you are hungry.
Menu Plan Monday from I’m An Organizing Junkie (also downloads)
Laura (another mom of three) calls herself an organizing junkie and suggests that rehab may be in order. She plans meals ahead, saving time (figuring out what to cook), food (less waste, buys what she needs) and effort (slow cooker meals for example).
Feeding a family of six for $60 a week. Gayle doesn’t sit down and plan meals by the week or month. She shops what’s on sale and plans meals while she’s shopping.
